If your like me and you customize your start layout by pinning apps and disks to your start layout, and your happy with the layout. It might come to a time on your Windows 10 machine when you need to backup and restore the start menu layout. All that time and effort you have made to get it right!! then one day your computer breaks or you migrate to another machine and you want that great layout back.

The best thing to do is to make a backup of the start layout on your Windows 10 machine as below:

To Enable hidden folders > Open File Explorer like below> Hit View then check "hidden items"

The default location of the database is located in a hidden folder stored in your profile.

    C:\Users\YouruserProfile\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer

Simply copy the contents of the database folder to make a backup.

When you want to restore the backup, simply drag and drop this folder onto your new machine.

    Thats it.
